What IQ Really Means
I've taken more IQ tests than I'd like to admit. Here's what I've learned - IQ is really just a measure of certain cognitive abilities, not overall intelligence. It's like measuring how fast someone can run versus how well they play basketball.
The History
IQ testing started in the early 1900s. Alfred Binet in France developed the first modern IQ test to identify students who needed extra help. The concept stuck around for over a century!
What's Actually Measured
Pattern recognition, spatial reasoning, working memory - these get measured. But creativity, emotional intelligence, practical wisdom? Those aren't captured. A low IQ score doesn't mean someone isn't brilliant in other ways!
